Job summary

UMass Amherst is seeking a Lead Identity and Access Management Engineer to lead the university's enterprise IAM program. You will design, implement, and govern authentication, authorization, provisioning, and identity governance across systems and applications, balancing security with usability.

The role blends hands-on expertise and leadership, guiding a team of IAM professionals, shaping the technical vision, and ensuring compliance with NIST, FERPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and university policies in

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or related field with more than 9 years of progressive professional IT experience.
Associate's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or related field with more than 11 years of progressive professional IT experience.
5 years of experience focused on identity and access management.
2 years of experience in a technical lead or team lead capacity, providing guidance, mentorship, or oversight to technical staff.

Responsibilities

Lead IAM initiatives and inform strategic direction for the university's IAM ecosystem, including authentication services and access controls.
Architect design and documentation of IAM across on-premises and cloud environments.
Configure and maintain IAM platforms, including lifecycle design and automated provisioning.
Design and implement enterprise IAM service architecture (SSO, MFA, federation, provisioning workflows).
Analyze complex technical problems and develop innovative solutions; drive integration efforts.
Collaborate with stakeholders to implement IAM standards and best practices.
Manage user provisioning/de-provisioning and access certifications; monitor auditing.
