Job summary

Klaviyo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Identity and Access Management in our Boston area office. You will lead complex IAM initiatives while staying hands-on with production services in Go or Python.

You will own authentication, authorization, and related security components, and mentor teammates to raise the bar on reliability and security. You will partner with Security, Product, Platform, and engineering teams to design scalable, secure solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience building and operating production software.
• Hands-on experience developing production services in Go or Python.
• Experience with authentication, authorization, identity, or related security systems.
• Built networking systems, API gateways, APIs, or SDKs.
• Led complex projects spanning multiple engineers and months.
• End-to-end ownership and post-launch accountability.
• Strong communication across teams and practical technical decisions.
• Mentored engineers and raised quality through feedback.

Responsibilities

• Lead business-critical projects from design through launch and long-term operation.
• Build secure, reliable services for authentication, authorization, delegation, auditing, and revocation.
• Break ambiguous problems into clear work for multiple engineers to deliver.
• Own customer impact, reliability, and technical quality in production.
• Improve architecture to meet scale, security, and product needs.
• Define and maintain SLOs for the systems you own.
• Partner with Security, Product, Platform, and product engineering teams.
• Create reusable patterns that simplify IAM for other teams to adopt.
• Mentor engineers and help project contributors succeed.
• Apply new engineering and AI tools responsibly and share learnings with the team.
• Tackle important unowned work to speed the team's progress.
