Job summary

Kent in Deer Park, TX, is seeking a Principal I&C Engineer to lead discipline engineering across multi‑discipline projects. You will interact with design teams, operators, and vendors to ensure schedule, scope, budget, and quality are met.

The role requires extensive experience with DCS/SIS/ICSS/PLC, plus a Texas‑based P.E. license or eligibility, and a focus on safety and compliance across capital projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• Fifteen (15) years or more of relevant experience in refining and petrochemicals facilities.
• P.E. license (preferable in the State of Texas) is required or able to obtain by comity and NCEES license required.
• Experience with DCS, SIS, ICSS and PLC.
• Knowledge of QA/QC systems for Instrumentation and understanding the global standards (IEC61511, 61508 and ISA...).

Responsibilities

• Provides project discipline engineering support on project teams towards the successful completion of projects as assigned.
• Works with design resources both internally and externally to achieve designs that are cost effective and technically sound.
• Collaborates with other disciplines, process operators and engineers to complete projects.
• Follows the Capital project process and DOA policy to meet audit criteria and DOA compliance.
• Coordinates with subcontract engineers/designers to ensure quality and standards.
• Prepares or reviews specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
• Develops control logic functional specifications for integration of automation and operator control into DCS systems.
