Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Saint Paul, MN to lead the design, development, and optimization of hypersonic test facilities, focusing on wind tunnel systems. You will bridge engineering teams, project management, subcontractors, and customers, driving MBSE adoption and robust requirements, risk, and configuration management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or closely related field.
• 8+ years of experience with complex technical systems and systems engineering.
• Experience developing system architectures and MBSE architectural decisions.
• Hands-on MBSE with SysML and Cameo Systems Modeler.
• Experience with requirements development and requirements management.
• Familiarity with JAMA, DOORS, or Cameo for requirements management.
• Experience with change control/configuration management across multiple disciplines.
• Experience with risk management and hazard analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
• Experience with government contracts in aerospace/defense contexts.
• Hands-on experience with wind tunnels, shock tubes, or combustion testing environments.
• Experience evaluating system performance and margins.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize wind tunnel facilities and hypersonic test facilities.
• Integrate MBSE methodologies to define and model architectures.
• Collaborate with aerospace, mechanical, electrical, controls, and software engineers.
• Identify and communicate technical risks across the project lifecycle.
• Apply MBSE to define, model, and simulate system architectures.
• Manage integration of subsystems to ensure high performance.
• Use SysML and Cameo to support architecture definition, integration, and verification.
• Establish and manage configuration baselines and change control processes.
• Develop system-level requirements with traceability across lifecycle.
• Prepare technical reports, validation plans, and design documentation.
• Maintain MBSE models, simulations, and test results for reviews and audits.
• Mentor engineers in systems engineering practices and related domains.
• Support risk management and hazard analyses for hypersonic facilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams using JIRA and Confluence.
• Ensure practices meet government contracts and aerospace standards.
