Job summary

Stratolaunch, Mojave, CA, seeks a Level II or Sr. Structural/Mechanical Engineer to advance the Talon-A hypersonic flight vehicle program. You will conceptualize components, size and analyze parts, generate CAD models and margin reports, and support manufacturing while guiding junior teammates.

Responsibilities include detailed design, material selection, FEM analysis, and collaboration with technicians. Strong communication and readiness for travel are expected as part of the job.

Qualifications

• Ability to analyze designs with hand calculations and FEM.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling of parts and assemblies.
• Experience with composite part fabrication and manufacturing methods.
• Experience with composite tooling methods.
• Experience with aerospace fasteners and specs.
• Experience with drafting and GD&T.
• Ability to communicate technical challenges to varied audiences.
• Ability to take direction, work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design of structural components for WO release.
• Size and analyze components to meet structure requirements and margin reports.
• Design secondary structures for mounting components.
• Select materials and construction techniques to meet objectives.
• Create 3D CAD model parts and assemblies.
• Collaborate with technicians and shop to fabricate and assemble designs.
• Resolve technical challenges for Talon-A integration with carrier aircraft.
• Mentor Talon-A Structures Lead and provide guidance.
• Communicate progress to project leads.
• Contribute to integration of complex aerospace systems.
• Travel as needed (<5%).
• Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, integrity and commitments.
