Job summary

ENTRUST Solutions Group seeks a Sr. Hydro Mechanical Engineer with strong experience in design engineering, fleet engineering, commissioning, and maintenance of hydro turbines and related BOP systems across the United States and Canada.

The role supports mechanical assessments, troubleshooting, maintenance planning, asset optimization, and project execution for client hydro assets. The candidate will review turbine designs, perform structural and hydraulic calculations, and oversee FEA/CFD

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• At least 10 years of hydropower experience.
• Extensive hydro turbine design and engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with FEA and CFD software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
• Willingness to travel for site inspections and commissioning activities.
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and review the mechanical design of hydro turbines (Francis, Kaplan, Pelton) and related components.
• Perform and review mechanical calculations for structural integrity, vibration, fatigue, and hydraulic loads.
• Conduct or oversee FEA and CFD simulations using ANSYS or comparable software.
• Support condition assessments, refurbishments, uprates, and modernization projects.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, calculation notes, design reports, and drawings.
• Lead or support turbine commissioning, including installation oversight, testing, troubleshooting, and performance verification.
• Travel as needed, typically not exceeding 15%.
• Attend client meetings and provide construction support.
