Job summary

ENTRUST Solutions Group seeks a Sr. Hydro Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in hydro turbine design, commissioning, and BOP systems.

You will support mechanical assessments, performance optimization, and troubleshooting across North America, collaborating with electrical, civil, and controls teams. The role emphasizes experience with FEA/CFD, rotor dynamics, and turbine equipment sizing, with opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree with focus on stress analysis, turbomachinery or related field.
• 10+ years hydropower experience.
• Extensive hydro turbine design and engineering experience including fleet engineering, commissioning, or operations.
• Experience with turbine commissioning and performance testing.
• Hands-on experience with FEA and/or CFD applied to hydro machinery.
• Strong rotor dynamics and rotating equipment mechanics knowledge.
• Willingness to travel for site inspections and commissioning activities.
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate mechanical design of hydro turbines and related components.
• Perform mechanical calculations for structural integrity and hydraulic loads.
• Conduct or oversee FEA/CFD simulations using ANSYS or similar software.
• Support condition assessments, refurbishments, uprates and modernization projects.
• Prepare technical specifications, calculation notes and drawings.
• Lead or support turbine commissioning, including installation oversight, testing and performance verification.
• Coordinate with other engineers on integrated hydropower plant design.
