Weihe Engineers in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Hydrologist / Sr. Civil Engineer to lead hydrology and hydraulic projects with a dynamic team.

You will conduct hydrological assessments, stormwater design, and watershed analyses, while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. The role offers the opportunity to advance sustainable water resources solutions across Midwest projects, focusing on regulatory compliance, technical reporting, and collaboration with clients

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Indiana or able to obtain within 6 months.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in hydrology, hydraulics, and water resources engineering.
  • Proficiency in hydrological modeling software (HEC-HMS, ICPR, HEC-RAS, SWMM) and GIS.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD with Civil 3D knowledge preferable.
  • Strong understanding of watershed management and stormwater best practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrological assessments, watershed modeling, floodplain analysis and mapping.
  • Design stormwater management systems including detention basins and green infrastructure.
  • Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic models using industry-standard software (HEC-HMS, ICPR, HEC-RAS, SWMM, GIS).
  • Perform site evaluations and feasibility studies for stormwater and drainage projects.
  • Develop technical reports, drawings, and specifications to regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders and regulatory agencies for project success.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Stay current with trends, technologies, and regulations in water resources engineering.
