Job summary

Plug Power Inc. in the United States is seeking a Sr. Mechanic to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment at a hydrogen production and liquefaction facility.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with compressors, pumps, and valves, and the ability to work across departments to improve reliability and safety. The position emphasizes quick response to equipment issues, proper documentation, and adherence to Process Safety Management.

Qualifications

• Three years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience, preferably in process plants.
• Associate or vocational degree in mechanical maintenance, or equivalent 2 extra years experience.
• Experience with compressors, pumps, valves, and cryogenic systems is preferred.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems (electrolyzers, compressors, cryogenic turbo expanders, pumps).
• Conduct inspections and PM tasks to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Respond rapidly to malfunctions and perform component replacements.
• Maintain and repair valves; document work orders in CMMS (Maximo/SAP).
• Support safety compliance and keep detailed maintenance records.
