Job summary

Plug Power Inc. is seeking a Hydrogen Technician to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant equipment within the Hydrogen Plant facility. The role focuses on safety, detail, and mechanical troubleshooting to ensure continuous operation.

The technician will perform routine and preventative maintenance, document activities, and coordinate with the System Controls Operator. Candidates should have basic manufacturing experience, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to obtain

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational education/training preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of manufacturing operation experience; filling/loading experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with pumps, compressors, valves and related tools.
  • Ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker certifications once qualified.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance to keep equipment operating; troubleshoot and repair production machines.
  • Fill out required maintenance documentation and records.
  • Communicate with System Controls Operator for maintenance and operation of compressors.
  • Monitor equipment, diagnose problems, replace/repair parts, test and adjust as needed.
  • Maintain high-pressure and cryogenic trailers; shuttle tubes within the plant yard.
  • Practice safe work habits and keep the facility clean and compliant with SOPs and regulations.
  • Provide or arrange for emergency/unscheduled repairs during production; perform scheduled maintenance during machine service.
  • Support quality and efficiency improvements and work well in a team environment.
  • Represent Plug Power professionally in all interactions.

Job description

Hydrogen TechnicianStatus: Non-Exempt (Hourly)Department: Hydrogen Plant, Woodbine, GAPosition Summary:The Hydrogen Technician position is responsible for performing a wide range of duties relating to installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining facility equipment within the Hydrogen Plant facility. This Technician will complete these duties and repairs in accordance with Plug Power’s safety protocol, ensuring productive maintenance to systems and equipment in support of the facility. The Hydrogen Technician will be safety focused with an exceptional attention to detail and a background in mechanical troubleshooting. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, able to handle multiple tasks at once and willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced growing organization.Core Duties and Responsibilities:Perform routine and preventative maintenance in order to keep the facility operational including both troubleshooting and repairs of production machines and equipmentProperly fills out the required record keeping documentationCommunicate on an ongoing basis with the System Controls Operator for the maintenance and operation of compressorsMonitor process equipment and diagnoses problems; replaces or repairs parts, tests, and adjusts as necessaryMaintain and prepare high-pressure and cryogenic trailers for filling; shuttle tube trailers in within the plant yardPractice safe work habits and housekeeping on a daily basis within the facility; including maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with all governmental and company procedures, rules, and regulationsProvide or arrange for emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production; perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine serviceAssist quality and efficiency improvementsWork safely and effectively within a team environment, ensuring positive communicationMust professionally communicate and collaborate with other Plug Power team members and leadersRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactionsPerform all other duties as assignedEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent; vocational education/training is preferredValid Driver's LicenseMinimum of one (1) year of prior experience in a manufacturing operation, filling or loading experience preferredFamiliarity with industrial equipment such as pumps, compressors, valves, and associated tools is preferredTraining and experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, compressors, troubleshooting or repairs is idealMust have the ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker certificationsAbility to read, interpret and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Strong verbal and written communication skillsQuality focused with a strong attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to role model high standards of professionalism
