Job summary

Kforce Inc. is seeking a senior infrastructure engineer in Houston to design, implement, and support a hybrid on-prem/GCP environment. You will lead migrations, build IaC with Terraform, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions while ensuring security, performance, and cost efficiency.

The role emphasizes disaster recovery, backup planning, and collaboration with cross-functional teams across application, database, networking, and cybersecurity domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in IT, CS, engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of enterprise infrastructure engineering or senior systems administration experience.
• Experience designing and supporting hybrid infrastructure integrating on-premises environments with Google Cloud Platform.
• Hands-on experience with GCP services including Compute Engine, VPC, IAM, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and Load Balancing.
• Strong experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Experience with GitHub source control and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience automating infrastructure using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Experience with Palo Alto and SonicWall firewalls.
• Experience supporting enterprise storage technologies including VxRail, Vblock, Isilon/PowerScale, Data Domain, Avamar and Rubrik.
• Experience designing and supporting backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
• Experience with infrastructure lifecycle management, cloud migrations, cybersecurity best practices, vulnerability remediation, and operational monitoring.
• Expert knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, VMware vSphere, Active Directory, enterprise networking, storage, and virtualization.
• Strong understanding of enterprise networking including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and firewall administration.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and project leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, administer, and support highly available hybrid infrastructure across on-premises and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Engineer secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure supporting enterprise business applications.
• Administer Windows Server, Linux, VMware vSphere, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, networking, and enterprise storage.
• Lead the migration of enterprise workloads from on-premises infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform.
• Design cloud architectures supporting hybrid connectivity, security, resiliency, and operational support.
• Develop migration strategies, dependency mapping, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and post-migration validation.
• Build and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for automated infrastructure deployments.
• Implement GitOps practices and automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, patching, and operational tasks using scripting languages.
• Design and maintain disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity solutions meeting business objectives.
