Job summary

Sysco is seeking a Cloud Engineer in Houston for a 6‑month contract-to-hire role with hybrid onsite (Mon–Wed). This hands-on position focuses on designing, implementing, and supporting a production Google Cloud Platform environment, leveraging Terraform, GCP networking, IAM, compute, storage, and security.

Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD tools is required. Ideal candidates will have 3+ years in cloud infra and 2+ years in hands-on GCP, with scripting skills in Python/Bash/PowerShell

Qualifications

• 3+ years of cloud infrastructure engineering experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on production experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience provisioning cloud infrastructure using Terraform.
• Experience with GCP networking, IAM, compute, storage and cloud security.
• Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes (GKE preferred).
• Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, or other CI/CD tools.
• Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
• Experience supporting production cloud environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support scalable cloud infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform.
• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code).
• Build and maintain cloud networking, IAM, compute, storage, and security services.
• Collaborate with application, security, networking, and architecture teams to deliver cloud solutions.
• Develop automation using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Build and support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud infrastructure for availability, performance, and security.
• Participate in cloud governance, operational excellence, and infrastructure best practices.
• Support a multi-cloud environment where AWS and Azure experience is beneficial.
