Job summary

Amazon Leo is recruiting a Senior Hardware Development Engineer to join the team delivering PCBA hardware for advanced antenna systems in San Diego. You will own or contribute to complex boards with RF circuitry, high-speed SERDES, and multiple interfaces, aiming for robust performance in space applications.

The role requires 7+ years of board-level analog/digital design, a BS in EE or CE, and hands-on experience with schematic tools and lab equipment.

Qualifications

• BS degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of industrial experience especially board level analog/digital design.
• 3+ years of experience in high-speed digital design, multi-gigabit SERDES, signal and power integrity.
• 3+ years of experience in using schematic
• 2+ years of experience using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi-meters.
• Experience with Mentor Graphics or Cadence layout tools.

• Develop proof-of-concept systems and prototypes for the next generation of electronic hardware.
• Implement RF circuits on PCB in close collaboration with the RF team.

Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites that will deliver low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

As a Senior Hardware Engineer, you will join a team of experts developing PCBA hardware for advanced antenna systems. This is deeply challenging work: the boards you design are highly complex, integrating sensitive RF circuitry, high-speed SERDES links, and a wide range of interfaces on a single PCBA. If you want to push the limits of hardware design and see your work fly in space, this is the team for you.

You will own or contribute to the following:

• Design and optimize the hardware blocks that make up complex electronic systems

Basic Qualifications

• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
• BS degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of industrial experience especially board level analog/digital design
• 3+ years of experience in high-speed digital design, multi-gigabit SERDES, signal and power integrity
• 3+ years of experience in using schematic
• 2+ years of experience using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi-meters
• Experience with Mentor Graphics or Cadence layout tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
• Experience with the project management of technical projects
• Masters of Science or PhD in electrical engineering or computer engineering
• Familiarity with analog electronic fundamentals (transistor circuits, op-amps, filters, etc)
• Experience in design, implementation, bring up and debugging of proof of concept HW and prototypes
• Familiarity with power supply design
• Proficiency in developing programs for instrument control
• Previous work experience in a programming language

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
