Job summary

General Atomics is seeking an HVAC Maintenance and Repair Technician based in Poway, CA. The role covers preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration of HVAC, plumbing, and related systems in a high-security facility.

Under minimal supervision, you will service air-conditioning, refrigeration, and controls, manage system optimizations, and support energy management and safety compliance. A two-year technical degree and extensive field experience are required.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a two-year technical degree or trade school equivalent and ten or more years progressive experience as a stationary engineer, journeyman plumber or HVAC mechanic.
• Must demonstrate considerable knowledge of construction industry mechanic concepts and regulations as well as plumbing and mechanical codes.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance on plant HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, heating, plumbing and mechanical equipment.
• Starts, operates and shuts down HVAC and plumbing systems; troubleshoots and repairs.
• Overhauls air compressors, re-circulating water pumps and sewer system transfer pumps; calibrates and repairs control devices.
• Injects chemical water treatment to maintain proper water chemistry in re-circulating systems.
• May operate and maintain the centralized site Energy Management Control System and sometimes Direct Digital Controls.
