Job summary

Wright State University is seeking a Facilities Maintenance III - HVAC to perform day-to-day inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on university buildings and systems. The role requires reading blueprints, diagnosing HVAC issues, and utilizing control systems to optimize performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus an advanced one-year technical/vocational HVAC program and 2 years of full-time experience in skilled commercial/industrial heating and air conditioning; or 3 years of full-time experience in skilled commercial/industrial HVAC.
• Excellent working knowledge of safety codes, practices and procedures.
• Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, plans, layouts and/or templates.
• Must have advanced working knowledge of Commercial/Industrial HVAC including chillers and air handling units; experience with Direct Digital Controls.
• Must have a valid U.S. driver's license for at least one year.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections, installations, and preventative maintenance; respond to emergencies and correct defects with proper protective gear.
• Utilize HVAC control systems for troubleshooting and make system changes as needed.
• Direct and train other HVAC staff in installation, maintenance, operation of equipment and controls.
• Install, maintain, and operate components such as compressors, condensers, fans, pumps, ducts and related controls to maximize system efficiency.
• Review repair scope, perform repairs and document work in the tracking system.
• Operate forklift or aerial lift as required and coordinate with other trades on multi-trade projects.
• Plan on-the-job projects, estimate material needs, labor hours and costs.
• Maintain safety procedures and ensure compliance with university policies.
