Job summary

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) seeks a Senior HVAC Mechanic to install, service, and repair heating, ventilating, air conditioning and related environmental-control systems in support of the Uniformed Services University Facilities department.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC/refrigeration systems, plus mentoring junior staff, reading blueprints, and coordinating routine work requests.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Extensive knowledge of the construction and operation of a variety of commercial and/or research facilities.
• Skilled in servicing power sources.
• Knowledge and skill in the use of accepted trade methods and techniques.
• Ability to work from oral instructions, blueprints and written work orders.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public Trust background check.

Responsibilities

• Install, modify, maintain, troubleshoot and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Maintenance: complete preventive maintenance and PM schedules as directed by supervisor.
• Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical circuits and equipment.
• Mentor less experienced HVAC and tradespeople.
• Plan test procedures and install/repair various systems from blueprints or orders.
• Overtime as required by Facilities Department.
