Job summary

Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District is seeking a Senior HVAC Technician to install, maintain, repair, and replace central plant systems, including chilled water, with lead duties and use of building automation platforms to optimize performance.

The role requires journey-level experience, a CA Driver License, and EPA 608 certification. The incumbent will supervise staff, coordinate with vendors, and ensure compliance with codes while maintaining district facilities.

Qualifications

• Two years of journey-level experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of a chilled water central plant.
• Valid California Driver License and be insurable by District’s carrier
• Valid Universal certification in accordance with EPA 608 of the Clean Air Act

Responsibilities

• Lays out, installs, connects, and repairs piping and tubing for refrigeration, heating, chilled water, and air conditioning systems
• Fabricates, installs, secures, and repairs ductwork for HVAC systems
• Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and replaces control systems and components (DDC, pneumatic, analog)
• Utilizes building automation/building management system platforms to monitor, control, analyze data, and adjust performance to optimize energy efficiency
• Inspects facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and requirements
• Maintains records related to inventory, supplies, equipment, and work orders
• Prepares reports related to time, labor, materials, and cost to complete a work order
• Provides lead direction by coordinating, directing, guiding, training, and reviewing the work of staff
• Performs other related duties as assigned
