Job summary

Ambient Enterprises in California is seeking an experienced HVAC technician to maintain and repair central plant equipment, including 100-ton chillers and larger. You will perform testing, start-ups, commissioning, and preventive maintenance, with on-call availability.

The role requires journeyman-level experience, formal technical schooling, and California licensure, along with EPA Universal Technician certification.

Qualifications

• 5 years of work experience at the journeyman level with technical schooling.
• Commercial/industrial air conditioning experience required.
• Knowledge of chiller, HVAC, and central plants.
• HVAC large tonnage field knowledge required.
• Must be available for emergency service calls on‑call through rotation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair central plant equipment, including chillers 100 tons and larger, motors, pumps, valves, controls, cooling towers, vane axial fans, and associated equipment.
• Overhaul of centrifugal chillers a plus; perform end-to-end testing, programming, start-ups and commissioning.
• Schedule and manage site-wide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties for chillers, cooling towers and central plant equipment.
• Perform daily and monthly preventative maintenance on all related equipment; ensure completion within schedule.
• Maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors and co-workers; provide technical support and troubleshooting.
