Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a maintenance HVAC technician at Suwannee Correctional Institution to install and repair HVAC, refrigeration, and food service equipment for a major institution. You will provide on-the-job training to supervised inmates, maintain refrigerant records, and perform preventive maintenance on various HVAC systems.

You’ll also install new control systems and diagnose issues in HVAC and closed-loop systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1 year HVAC experience, or 4+ years HVAC experience (training can substitute).
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities on application/interview.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems, and food service equipment; provide on-the-job training to supervised inmates.
• Maintain refrigerant use records and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems.
• Install control systems and diagnose HVAC and closed-loop system issues.
• Perform HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building preventive maintenance and prepare reports as directed.
• Maintain custody of inmates, prepare progress reports, and participate in staff training.
