Job summary

Walmart is seeking a Senior Technician for Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration in Houston, TX. You will oversee installation and commissioning of HVAC/R systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and lead maintenance programs across large refrigeration units and grocery racks.

The role requires EPA refrigerant handling certification, journeyman status, and several years of HVAC/R experience in grocery or commercial settings.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration
• 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration with AAS in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
• EPA Type I and II or Universal certification for refrigerant handling
• HVAC-R/Mechanical Journeyman
• 1 year experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling, or related area; or 2 years Walmart store experience
• Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record

Responsibilities

• Oversees installation and commissioning of HVAC/R systems, including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics.
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues across commercial systems.
• Implements preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce downtimes.
• Manages supermarket refrigeration units and ensures optimal performance and compliance.
• Submits vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders and maintenance logs; enters notes with photos.
• Ensures OSHA and EPA refrigerant handling compliance; documents field practices.
• Inspects and repairs per HVAC/R codes including indoor air quality and cold chain requirements.
• Leads field teams, mentors technicians, and coordinates service calls; manages escalated issues.
