Job summary

Smith-Boughan Mechanical, Inc. in Lima, OH is seeking an experienced HVAC/R Installer to join our service team. Lead and execute high-quality installations across commercial and industrial environments, including military bases, with focus on startup and commissioning.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of commercial HVAC/R experience, EPA certification, and strong teamwork and safety practices. Overtime and on-call availability may be required; a valid driver's license is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ Years Commercial HVAC/R Installation Experience: proven track record installing commercial split systems, rooftop units, and refrigeration piping.
• Technical Proficiency: brazing, refrigerant recovery/recharging, system commissioning, basic HVAC troubleshooting.
• Leadership on the Job Site: manage small install teams, read blueprints/submittals, and execute installations within budget.
• Team-Oriented Mindset: positive attitude, accountability, collaboration, field initiative.
• Detail-Oriented and Budget-Conscious: safety-minded, organized, on-time within project timelines.

Responsibilities

• Installation of HVAC/R Equipment (40%) — install commercial split systems, RTUs, and refrigeration systems up to 25 tons; braze and install piping; startup and commissioning.
• Project Execution & Oversight (25%) — read blueprints, manage small teams, track materials/labor/time, coordinate on scope/timelines, ensure safety.
• Service Support & Troubleshooting (15%) — basic HVAC troubleshooting, report issues, support startup/service calls, document findings.
• Customer & Team Communication (10%) — professional client interaction, meetings, report progress, represent at client facilities.
• Administrative & Technical Support (10%) — maintain records, use digital tools, support inventory, keep vehicle/site clean.
