Job summary

Intertek is seeking a Sr. Staff Engineer – HVAC Performance in Plano, TX. You will evaluate conformance of HVAC products to standards, review final evaluation reports, and lead technical training. Travel up to 25% and interaction with clients, accreditors, and AHJs are required.

Responsibilities include developing testing programs, making engineering judgments, and supervising junior staff. Strong leadership and deep knowledge of HVAC standards are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in HVAC product design/testing and regulatory landscape.
• Strong communication and leadership capabilities.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, piping diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and apply UL, CSA, AHRI, ASHRAE, and DOE requirements to equipment under testing.
• Develop, lead, and/or support testing, inspection and certification programs.
• Plan, coordinate and control progress of project work and keep the client informed.
• Review project files for compliance with procedures.
• Make technical decisions on standards applicability and test programs.
• Interact with clients, accreditors and AHJs to resolve issues.
• Participate in technical committees and standards development.
• May supervise and develop junior staff.
• Recommend capital expenditures and test apparatus.
• Serve as technical director for sub-stream or location.
• Provide input into quality assurance and organize resources.
