Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting seeks an experienced Mechanical (HVAC) Designer to lead complex HVAC systems for commercial, government, academic, and industrial projects. You will mentor junior engineers and engage directly with clients to ensure design excellence.

The role emphasizes project leadership, adherence to codes, and hands-on development of construction documents from concept through construction administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• Minimum 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit software.
• Experience designing systems for commercial, government, academic, R&D, or industrial facilities.
• EIT and LEED accreditation strongly preferred; PE license strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design complex mechanical systems adhering to current codes and sound engineering principles.
• Develop detailed construction documents and cost estimates accurately and efficiently.
• Lead quality assurance reviews of staff-produced work.
• Participate in client communications and coordination meetings.
• Conduct field observations to document existing conditions and ensure design accuracy.
• Manage multiple design tasks to meet project milestones within budget.
• Address feedback from clients and regulatory agencies, implementing necessary design adjustments.
• Support construction administration activities such as reviewing shop drawings and RFIs.
• Maintain and expand knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and design software.
