Job summary

Budderfly is seeking an experienced HVAC Field Technician to commission, monitor, audit, and complete closeout checks for energy efficiency solutions across North America in QSR, casual dining, retail, and enterprise sites. The role focuses on HVAC systems, coordinates with contractors, and ensures installation quality and project turnover.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in commercial HVAC, strong knowledge of RTUs, controls, and field leadership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial HVAC experience with installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and QA.
• RTUs, make-up air, exhaust, packaged equipment, split systems, heat pumps, and ventilation.
• Experience as Site Superintendent or Commissioning Agent or similar field leadership role.
• Experience overseeing third-party contractors and ensuring safety and quality.
• Familiarity with TAB reports, commissioning, startup docs, and control sequences.
• Willingness to travel 75%+ across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site field representative and superintendent during HVAC installation projects.
• Lead commissioning, verification, and acceptance of HVAC replacement projects.
• Act as field QA resource, holding contractors to Budderfly standards and safety.
• Validate installation quality via inspections, testing, and closeout reviews.
• Identify deficiencies and drive corrective actions to resolution.
• Provide technical support to installation contractors on HVAC equipment and controls.
• Review TAB/commissioning documents to confirm compliance with standards.
• Communicate project status and issues to customers and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve field issues.
