Job summary

Kintec Search seeks an experienced HVAC Estimator for NYC commercial projects. Review drawings, perform takeoffs, and develop comprehensive cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.

You will solicit quotes, identify bid risks, and support value engineering to optimize project outcomes. Coordinate bid packages with project managers and operations, manage multiple opportunities, and ensure timely handoffs.

Qualifications

At least 5 years of estimating experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical contracting.
Experience pricing NYC commercial work (tenant fit-outs, renovations, upgrades).
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, and controls.
Ability to read mechanical drawings, specs, schedules, and bid requirements.
Experience with quantity takeoffs, labor pricing, vendor quotes, and bid prep.
Proficiency with Bluebeam, Excel, and estimating software.
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to communicate with project teams and suppliers.

Responsibilities

Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and addenda for NYC commercial projects.
Perform detailed takeoffs for HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, and controls.
Estimate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Request, compare, and level quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
Identify scope gaps, design conflicts, and bid risks.
Prepare RFIs, clarifications, and organized estimate packages.
Support value engineering and evaluate alternate equipment and approaches.
Manage bid opportunities and deadlines, coordinating with PMs and operations.
