Job summary

Accelera in Metairie, LA is seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our commercial HVAC ductwork fabrication facility. You will manage layout, formation, assembly and finalization of duct systems with minimal supervision.

The role requires experience with light-gauge ductwork, reading shop drawings, and using shears, brakes, rolls and spot welders. Compensation is $28.15 per hour, and new hires must join the Sheet Metal Workers Union within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial HVAC ductwork fabrication in a professional shop.
• AWS D1.1 Welding Certification.
• Ability to read shop blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Proficient with measurement and trade-related math.

Responsibilities

• Analyze shop blueprints and ductwork requirements.
• Layout and shape ductwork configurations (round, rectangular, custom).
• Construct plenums, transitions, offsets, reducers, and interfaces.
• Operate shop equipment (shears, brakes, rolls, spot welders) safely.
• Join duct sections with correct hardware, reinforcements, joints and seams.
• Verify dimensions meet project specs and timelines.
• Maintain safety standards and tidy work area.
• Mentor junior staff and support team production goals.
