Job summary

Cabildo Staffing in Metairie, LA is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic for a commercial HVAC ductwork fabrication shop. You will lay out, form, assemble, and complete ductwork with minimal supervision, reading shop drawings and fabrication details.

Must be able to read tape measures, work with galvanized steel, stainless, aluminum, operate brakes, shears, rolls, spot welders, and form fittings. Union membership required within 90 days.

• Experience fabricating HVAC ductwork in a shop setting.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication details, and ductwork specifications.
• Independently lay out and form rectangular, round, and specialty ductwork and fittings.
• Fabricate elbows, transitions, offsets, reducers, taps, plenums, and equipment connections.
• Operate fabrication equipment safely, including brakes, shears, rolls, forming equipment, spot welders, and hand tools.
• Assemble ductwork using appropriate seams, joints, reinforcements, and hardware.
• Verify dimensions and completed work for accuracy and quality.
• Meet production schedules and fabrication deadlines.
• Minimize material waste and properly handle galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other sheet metals.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety policies and quality standards.
• Assist and mentor less-experienced shop personnel as needed.

About the PositionCabildo Staffing is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic for a commercial HVAC ductwork fabrication shop in Metairie, LA.
