Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC to lead design and optimization of mechanical systems for large commercial and industrial buildings in Randburg, Gauteng.

You will perform load calculations, select equipment, develop CAD schematics, and ensure compliance with SANS and energy efficiency standards, while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with architects and PMs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering with HVAC specialization.
• Experience designing HVAC systems for commercial and industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex HVAC systems for commercial and industrial projects.
• Perform detailed load calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection.
• Create detailed HVAC designs, schematics, and specifications using CAD tools.
• Ensure designs comply with building codes, standards, and energy efficiency regulations.
• Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and PMs to integrate HVAC into building designs.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of HVAC systems, ensuring proper functionality.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction and handover.
• Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC system performance issues.
• Mentor junior mechanical engineers on HVAC design principles and best practices.
• Stay current with advancements in HVAC technology and sustainable practices.
