Job summary

KAI in Irving, TX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, implement, and analyze HVAC systems for diverse building projects.

You will perform independent design evaluations, manage projects, ensure code compliance, and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective solutions.

This role requires a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a PE license, with 5+ years of HVAC experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on HVAC design and systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is required.
  • Thorough understanding of HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps, exhaust equipment, and terminal units.
  • Knowledge of NFPA, ASHRAE codes and local building codes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform HVAC design evaluations and lead project design for both decentralized and centralized systems.
  • Conduct independent design of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Analyze existing HVAC systems and recommend improvements for quality and efficiency.
  • Prepare engineering analyses, including cost and life-cycle calculations, and equipment selection.
  • Create detailed drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Develop technical construction specifications and oversee code compliance.
