Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (PE) with 6–15 years of HVAC design experience for commercial, multifamily, and institutional projects in the Washington, DC area.

The role requires a licensed Professional Engineer, strong leadership, and the ability to manage projects from concept through completion. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office is essential, along with willingness to travel to job sites and conduct fieldwork.

Qualifications

• Active PE license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 6–15 years of HVAC design experience in commercial, multifamily, or institutional environments.
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal codes.
• Proven project management experience with coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC system design, including load calculations and equipment sizing/selection.
• Develop control system concepts and perform site surveys.
• Ensure compliance with building codes in the Washington, DC metro area.
• Coordinate tasks across MEP disciplines to meet quality, schedule, and budget targets.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
