Job summary

Washoe County School District is seeking a Mechanical Technician to perform senior‑level maintenance and repair of mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, and related systems. You will diagnose and repair equipment, conduct safety testing, maintain records, and support energy analyses.

Day, swing, or graveyard shifts may be required. The role requires extensive boiler/HVAC expertise, experience with complex mechanical systems, and strong adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Education: HVAC apprenticeship or graduation from an accredited trade/technical school with boiler/HVAC focus.
• Experience: five (5) years journey level boiler/HVAC experience; three (3) years under licensed contractor preferred.
• Licenses: EPA Universal certification; Nevada driver license as required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect boilers and HVAC systems; perform complex maintenance and repairs.
• Repair electrical and pneumatic controls; test safety switches and controls.
• Coordinate annual inspections and certifications for boilers and vessels.
• Provide technical guidance and preventative maintenance training to staff.
• Manage large maintenance projects and energy analysis studies.
