Job summary

Avantus is seeking a Senior or Principal Engineer, HV Engineering to lead high-voltage design and technical oversight for utility-scale solar, energy storage, and hybrid projects in California. You will guide substations, switchyards, generation tie lines, interconnections, and owner-furnished HV equipment from development through construction and operations.

You will establish design standards, interface with utilities, EPCs, and vendors, and coordinate HV studies, RFIs, and project schedules,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• PE license or facility to obtain one.
• 10+ years in HV engineering, substations, or utility-scale projects.
• Experience with substations, switchyards, transmission lines up to 500 kV.
• Experience with CA interconnection processes and utility standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical authority for HV infrastructure in utility-scale solar, storage, and hybrid projects.
• Provide technical leadership for design basis development and review through all project phases up to 500 kV.
• Establish and maintain design standards and long-term HV infrastructure strategies.
• Act as Owner's technical rep and interface with utilities, EPCs, vendors, and engineers.
• Support interconnection requirements, RFIs, and power system studies.
• Lead routing, siting, and design for transmission lines and interconnections.
