ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly motivated and service-focused Senior Human Resources Business Partner to join our team. This in-office position plays a key role in partnering with leaders to drive HR strategy, support change, and deliver operational excellence. The successful candidate will bring sound judgment, a collaborative mindset, and a deep understanding of employee and labour relations, workforce planning, and HR best practices.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities
Service Excellence
- Partner with senior leaders to develop and implement HR strategies that align with business goals, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and organizational policies.
- Provide expert guidance on HR matters including talent management, performance management, organizational development, and employee relations.
- Analyze HR metrics and workforce data to identify trends and recommend actions to improve employee engagement, retention, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee complex workplace matters, including investigations, accommodations and leaves of absence, ensuring compliance with legal and policy requirements.
- Manage employee relations cases with a focus on resolution, consistency, and risk mitigation.
- Support and steward collective bargaining processes and implement resulting agreements.
Teamwork
- Collaborate with cross-functional HR teams (e.g., recruitment, total rewards, learning and development) to deliver cohesive and integrated HR solutions.
- Partner with hiring managers to maintain current job descriptions and support effective workforce planning.
- Drive recruitment efforts, including coordination of student programs and grant-funded positions.
- Co-lead HR projects from initiation to completion, working collaboratively to ensure projects are delivered on time and in alignment with HR and organizational goals.
- Support the development of detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource coordination.
Leadership
- Coach and advise leaders on performance management, employee development, and feedback practices to build leadership capacity.
- Deliver training and education on HR policies, tools, and best practices to support leadership effectiveness and consistency.
- Lead change management initiatives, supporting leaders through organizational change to ensure engagement and alignment.
- Present workforce insights and reporting to leadership, enabling data-informed decision-making and strategic planning.
What You Bring
Education
- Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPHR designation is considered an asset.
Additional Experience & Skills
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in a Human Resources Generalist/Human Resources Business Partner role.
- Strong background in labour relations within multi-site, unionized environments.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing for and participating in collective bargaining.
- Proven expertise in managing complex disability cases, accommodations, and attendance management.
- In-depth knowledge of employment legislation, standards, and HR best practices.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with regular travel required to Bethany sites.
