AtkinsRéalis seeks a seasoned HSE Director to lead governance for a major pharmaceutical campus construction and operations readiness. You will manage owner-side standards, assure contractor safety, and drive process safety across design, construction, and startup phases.

The role demands 20+ years in HSE/PSM, strong leadership, and experience with large-scale capital projects in regulated industries. This is a full-time on-site leadership position with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of professional experience in HSE, process safety, or major capital projects.
• Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, ASP, PE, CCPSC, or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of leadership overseeing HSE programs on large industrial, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience supporting programs exceeding $1 billion in capital value.
• Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred; other regulated sectors considered.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the owner's senior HSE representative across all capital project activities and EPC organizations.
• Establish, implement, and govern owner-side HSE standards and assurance programs.
• Lead development of sitewide HSE governance frameworks aligned with Lilly requirements and regulatory obligations.
• Oversee contractor compliance with HSE requirements, permits, and owner standards.
• Monitor contractor HSE performance through audits, inspections, and assurance reviews.
• Lead investigations of significant incidents and high-potential events.
• Oversee corrective action management and timely closure of deficiencies.
• Provide independent verification of safety data, indicators, and performance metrics.
• Develop executive-level HSE dashboards and risk assessments for leadership.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, environmental, and process safety requirements.
