Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated seeks a Senior Director, HR Business Partner to lead people strategy for Data, Technology & AI, partnering with the CDIO. This senior IC will influence executives, shape operating models, and drive enterprise talent initiatives across design, capability development, and succession planning.

The role emphasizes data-backed decisioning, organizational effectiveness, and coaching at the executive level in a fast-moving tech environment.

Qualifications

Serve as the primary HR partner to the CDIO and Data/Tech/AI leadership team, translating business, technology, and AI strategy into a prioritized, integrated people and organizational agenda, and influencing executive decisions through data-backed recommendations.
Lead change to embed and mature the operating model across the enterprise, enabling leaders and sustaining new decision rights, governance, and ways of working.
Act as chief architect for Data/Tech/AI organizational design, defining structure, role clarity, and operating mechanisms to accelerate delivery and accountability.

Responsibilities

Own the talent strategy for Data/Tech/AI enterprise-wide, maintaining role architecture, skills expectations, and succession depth.
Drive strategic workforce planning to attract, develop, and retain top technical and leadership talent, balancing cost, speed, and business needs.
Elevate leadership performance by coaching senior leaders and guiding structured leadership journeys.
Conduct rigorous talent reviews and succession planning to build continuity and pipelines for critical roles.
