Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine is seeking an experienced Senior HR Generalist to support faculty and staff within clinical departments. This role operates in a fast-paced academic medical environment and requires advanced HR knowledge, sound judgement, and strong organizational skills.

The Senior HR Generalist will advise department leaders on recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compliance, benefits, leave, payroll, and employee relations, while

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in HR administration, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits and leave administration, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to advise department leaders and supervisors on a broad range of HR matters.
• Knowledge of HR policies, employment practices, and applicable federal and state laws.
• Ability to navigate multiple HR systems and adapt to changing needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide complex HR support to faculty and staff within clinical departments in a fast-paced academic medical environment.
• Serve as SME and trusted advisor to leadership on HR policies, processes, and best practices.
• Deliver front-line employee relations guidance, address performance concerns, and facilitate resolutions.
