Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking a Senior Technical Analyst to lead the Data and Analytics division within HRIT. The role reports to the Senior Director of HRIT and bridges apps development with data analysis to deliver secure, actionable insights across the university workforce.

The Senior Technical Analyst provides leadership to a hybrid team of Developers and Data Analysts, serving as a technical architect, project leader, and analytics consultant across HR and broader VT IT architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical/analytical field.
• Experience in technical lead, supervisor, or project leadership roles.
• Strong systems analysis and requirement-to-technical-spec translation.
• Proficient in SQL and relational DB design/management.
• Experience building data pipelines, dashboards, and analytics reports.
• Excellent communication with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead a hybrid team of Applications Developers and Data Analysts.
• Architect and develop HR applications, databases, and enterprise systems; enforce best practices.
• Design and enhance data dashboards and reporting to support HR decisions.
• Ensure data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
• Elicit and translate stakeholder needs into system requirements and specifications.
