Job summary

VGS is seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to pair trusted counsel with hands-on execution across Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, Go-to-Market, and other teams. This Bay Area-focused role supports leadership and employees through organizational design, performance, and people programs.

The position requires 7+ years of HR experience, strong stakeholder management, and a data-driven approach to HR. We offer a hybrid work model and extensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive HR experience in an HRBP/broad HR generalist role.
• Demonstrated success advising senior leaders and coaching managers through complex employee relations and talent decisions.
• Working knowledge of California and multi-state U.S. employment practices; ability to identify when legal guidance is needed.
• Experience owning or contributing to core people cycles such as performance reviews, compensation planning, promotions, and talent reviews.
• Strong business acumen and analytics; translate people data into operating priorities and recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, facilitation skills, and ability to adapt across employees, managers, and executives.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and consistency when handling sensitive information and high-stakes decisions.
• Practical, low-ego operating style; organized, responsive, and comfortable moving between strategy and execution.
• Exposure to workforce planning and headcount management processes

Responsibilities

• Business partnership and organization effectiveness: understand teams, advise on org design and talent priorities.
• Manager coaching and employee relations: be a first point of contact and support performance conversations and investigations.
• Performance and talent management: lead performance reviews, talent reviews, promotions, and development plans.
• Compensation and leveling: collaborate on pay decisions, promotions, and calibration.
• Organizational change: plan reorganizations, leadership transitions, and related offboarding.
• Employee experience and culture: listen, surface themes, and partner on practical actions.
• People programs and operations: translate programs into execution and improve processes across HR functions.
• Insights and risk management: use data to identify risks and provide clear recommendations.
