Job summary

The Department of Corrections Human Resources team at the State of Wyoming is seeking an HR Associate II to join our payroll, benefits, and personnel processes across Riverton, Lusk, and Newcastle.

You will handle FMLA, recruitment, policy interpretation, and HR record-keeping in accordance with Federal and State laws, providing guidance to supervisors and managers. A Bachelor's in HR and 0–5 years’ experience are typical qualifications; telework options may apply.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Federal (ADA, EEOC, FMLA, FLSA) laws.
• Knowledge of the State of Wyoming Personnel Rules and Executive Orders.
• Experience with payroll processing and benefits administration.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and approves HR actions within delegated authority.
• Prepares and processes payroll and all related actions in compliance with laws.
• Process monthly timesheets, audits, and leave usage.
• Determine employee eligibility for FMLA and prepare applicable paperwork.
• Maintains HR records including medical files, timesheets, and I-9.
• Prepares recruitment announcements and counsels supervisors on the process.
• Conducts interviews and provides guidance throughout interviews.
• Provides input on benefits matters and serves as benefits point of contact.
• Prepares reports to assist managers in HR cost management.
• Maintains statewide HR information systems and data accuracy.
• Ensures compliance with federal and state laws across agencies.
