Job summary

International Rescue Committee Sacramento is seeking a Senior Housing Stabilization Specialist to lead housing stabilization services for low- to moderate-income households. You will manage intake, eligibility, and coordination of direct financial assistance with coaches and partners.

Responsibilities include navigating rental markets, preventing evictions, and connecting clients to supportive services while documenting progress in HMIS and IRC systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 3+ years in housing stabilization or social services preferred.
• Experience conducting intakes and eligibility assessments for low- to moderate-income households.
• Experience administering direct financial or rental assistance programs; vendor/landlord coordination helpful.
• Familiarity with Sacramento County’s rental market and eviction prevention programs.
• HUD Housing Counselor Certification preferred; certification within 6 months if not yet certified.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive housing-focused intake and eligibility assessments for applicants seeking rental, utility, deposit, and emergency financial assistance.
• Verify income eligibility, geographic residency (zip codes 95817, 95820, 95824, 95828 and citywide), and program-specific documentation requirements.
• Develop individualized housing stability plans with FEC coaches to address immediate crises and longer-term barriers.
• Coordinate with landlords, utility providers, and vendors to administer direct financial assistance in compliance with guidelines and funder requirements.
• Navigate Sacramento’s rental market and housing landscape, including public housing programs and waitlists.
• Collaborate with partners to provide eviction prevention and housing retention support.
• Represent IRC Sacramento in coalitions and community events; participate in ongoing professional development.
