Job summary

Impact NW in Multnomah County, Oregon, seeks a Housing Specialist III to deliver advanced, community-based social work within a Housing First framework. This role engages individuals and families experiencing chronic homelessness and complex housing instability, providing mentorship and coordinating with diverse service providers.

The position requires bilingual Spanish, a bachelor’s degree in social work or related field (or equivalent experience), and HMIS proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bilingual Spanish is required for this position.
• Minimum of 3 years of successful housing navigation experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be substituted.
• Experience with HMIS and agency/funder data systems required.
• Ability to travel/drive within the Portland Metro area and surrounding counties.

Responsibilities

• Maintain advanced knowledge of program requirements, eligibility, enrollment standards, and funder definitions.
• Screen, intake, and refer internal and external requests for service.
• Manage a caseload with high-acuity and complex cases requiring problem-solving and landlord negotiation.
• Provide trauma-informed, person-centered engagement and ongoing case management using Housing First principles.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary service providers to support client stability.
• Conduct housing search assistance and landlord negotiations to support lease-up and retention.
• Educate clients on public benefits and ensure autonomy in choices.
• Assist with training and mentorship to Housing Specialist II staff and new team members.
• Ensure timely data entry in HMIS and comply with program documentation standards.
