Job summary

Gulfcoast Legal Services in Bradenton, FL, seeks a Senior Staff Attorney to join our Housing Law team. The role offers hybrid remote work after a 30-day start and may be filled as full-time or part-time.

The attorney will mentor staff, handle complex cases, and advocate for survivors of abuse and trauma within public interest law. Applicants should have strong litigation and advisory skills, and be committed to high-quality legal services for low-income clients in a flexible, mission-driven

Qualifications

• Ability to work with survivors of abuse and trauma.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and resource for new legal staff.
• Provide input on complex cases to support less experienced staff.
• Interview and counsel clients in the office and outreach sites.
• Research factual and legal problems and develop case strategies.
• Represent clients in litigation and administrative advocacy.
• Provide counseling, advice and referrals, and pursue solutions including mediation and litigation.
• Identify developing advocacy strategies addressing systemic problems for low-income clients.
• Assist in client outreach and community education.
• Review legislative proposals for potential impact on clients.
• Participate in trainings, task forces, and office meetings.
