Job summary

Highgate Hotels seeks a Chief Engineer to oversee day-to-day engineering operations at Residence Inn Denver Tech Center, Greenwood Village, CO. The role reports to the Director and covers budgeting, maintenance, safety, and vendor supervision.

The candidate will manage schedules, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive energy conservation while supporting guest satisfaction and hotel programs.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Stationary Engineer’s license if required by local code.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills required.
• Long hours sometimes required.
• Heavy work – exerting up to 100 lbs, 50 lbs frequently, up to 20 lbs constantly.
• Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
• Effective communication with employees and guests.
• Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
• Attend required meetings and trainings.
• Participate in MOD coverage as required.
• Maintain regular attendance per hotel standards.
• Maintain grooming and appearance standards.
• Comply with hotel standards and safety regulations.
• Maximize productivity and problem-solving; handle issues effectively.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds and other assets in safe condition.
• Ensure the hotel complies with local, state and federal laws.
• Supervise and train Engineering staff in customer service, SOPs and Loss Prevention.
• Create and post all Engineering staff schedules.
• Create and adhere to annual department budget.
• Assist in developing financial forecasts and participate in monthly P&L reviews.
• Create and implement preventative maintenance for hotel equipment.
• Ensure life safety equipment is inspected and certified per Highgate standards.
• Participate in energy conservation programs.
• Review guest and meeting planner comment cards to identify problems and correct them promptly.
• Assist with ADA compliance.
• Manage vendor contracts for the engineering department.
• Handle room maintenance requests promptly and courteously.
• Follow up on alarms and determine location and cause; take action as necessary.
• Assist with special projects and renovations.
• Support and participate in Highgate Hotel programs and Safety Committee.
