Job summary

Highgate Hotels in Las Vegas seeks an experienced Chief Engineer to oversee day-to-day operations of the hotel's engineering division. In the absence of the Director, the assistant will assume administrative, financial and operating aspects of engineering.

The role focuses on developing preventive maintenance programs, supervising staff, managing budgets and ensuring safety compliance with ADA standards and energy conservation initiatives.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Stationary Engineer’s license if required by local code.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills.
• Long hours sometimes required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and guests.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing plans to maintain property, equipment, grounds and other assets in a safe and acceptable state of repair.
• Ensure the hotel is in compliance with all local, state and federal laws.
• Supervise and train all Engineering staff in Customer Service, Empowerment, SOPs and Loss Prevention.
• Create and post all Engineering staff schedules.
• Create and adhere to annual department budget.
• Assist in developing financial forecasts and participate in monthly profit/loss review meetings.
• Create and implement preventative maintenance programs for all hotel equipment.
• Ensure life safety equipment and systems are inspected and certified per standards.
• Participate in energy conservation programs.
• Review guest and meeting planner feedback to address issues promptly.
• Ensure ADA compliance.
• Assist with vendor contracts controlled by engineering.
• Handle room maintenance requests promptly.
• Support and participate in Highgate Hotel programs.
