Job summary

Hilton Garden Inn in downtown San Antonio is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring safety and comfort for guests and associates, while delivering consistent performance.

The role oversees preventive maintenance, building systems, vendor relationships, and capital projects. Strong leadership, proactive mindset, and adherence to brand standards are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering or facilities maintenance experience, preferably in hotel/hospitality environments.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and general building systems.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays; respond to emergencies when necessary.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Independent thinker able to make decisions from available resources.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and modify programs for preventative maintenance of the property, grounds and equipment.
• Establish maintenance schedules and prioritize repairs to minimize disruption.
• Ensure guests and staff receive prompt, professional service for maintenance needs.
• Manage department equipment and inventory; coordinate with GM on orders.
• Maintain and test emergency and security systems and procedures.
• Conduct daily property inspections to ensure standards.
• Maintain records for all plant and equipment, repair, and service logs.
• Prepare reports for Housekeeping Manager and General Manager.
• Discuss maintenance status with GM/Owners/Dept heads.
• Achieve quality service and meet financial goals; day-to-day operations.
