Job summary

The Chief Engineer at Montefiore Hudson Valley Collaborative will oversee the day-to-day operation of the Weiler mechanical plant, HVAC systems, electrical distribution, and hospital infrastructure in the Bronx. You will lead a team of approximately 13 FTEs including power plant personnel, watch supervisors, refrigeration engineers, mechanics, and supervisors to ensure safe, reliable facility operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 4–6 years power/steam plant experience required.
• Minimum 5 years hospital experience with increasing responsibility.
• Engineering fundamentals in mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems.
• Building operations including maintenance and troubleshooting.
• OSHA and fire safety experience.
• Project budgeting and scheduling proficiency.
• Experience with CMMS, AutoCAD and BAS.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Engineering Operations Supervisors and Watch engineering in day-to-day operations of the Weiler mechanical plant and maintenance staff.
• Plan and supervise installation of modifications to the Weiler mechanical plant and hospital infrastructure.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for the plant, hospital facility, and off-site properties.
• Interact with architects, consultants, and contractors; manage life safety and regulatory programs.
• Ensure staff are trained on operation of equipment; maintain inventory and documentation.
• Maintain staffing levels appropriate for plant and engineering needs.
