Job summary

Montefiore in the Bronx East region seeks an experienced facilities leader to oversee engineering and maintenance operations across campuses. You will direct reliability programs, life safety compliance, and regulatory readiness for multiple hospital sites.

The role requires strong project coordination, financial stewardship, and collaboration with clinical and administrative teams to ensure continuous operations and safety excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
• At least 10 years in higher education, hospital, or research settings.
• Minimum 7 years in a supervisor/managerial role.
• Minimum 5 years in a power plant or steam plant.
• Professional Engineer license preferred.
• FDNY CAT and Q01 Refrigeration Engineer licenses preferred.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and manage formal facilities coordination and project kick-off meetings.
• Coordinate work with support departments to maintain operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Communicate with physicians and leaders to coordinate clinical programs.
• Provide leadership to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission Environment of Care and Life Safety.
• Conduct mock surveys to identify gaps in compliance and areas for improvement.
• Assess services to maintain CMS, DOH, DOB, FDNY, EPA and other regulatory standards.
• Plan and supervise installation/modifications to the physical plant within code and scope.
• Manage life safety equipment with EHS.
• Test and diagnose instruments; participate in fire risk assessments and audits.
• Oversee budgets, CMS work order system, and resources for campus operations.
• Manage PM schedules using the CMS work order system.

Overview

This position will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Engineering and Maintenance services of Montefiore's Bronx East locations. This position will ensure prompt and exceptional leadership to the facilities maintenance and plant operation service delivery for all campus constituents.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and manage formal Facilities coordination meetings and project kick-off meetings with design and Construction, Energy sustainability, Environmental Health and Safety, IT, Security, Real Estate and Telecom.
• Coordinate work with the support department as per scope to maintain operations and within compliance with TJC, NYS DOH, NYC DOB.
• Communicates with physicians, nursing department leaders, and senior administrators to maintain coordination with other Montefiore Health programs.
• Provide oversight and leadership to ensure the facilities are in compliance with all aspects of The Joint Commission's Environment of Care and Life Safety regulations including the Utility Management program.
• Conduct mock surveys to identify gaps in compliance and areas for improvement.
• Continually assess all services and areas and ensure improvements are made to maintain all regulatory standards, including those set by CMS, DOH, DOB, FDNY, EPA and others.
• In collaboration with internal and external constituents, plan and supervise installation and modifications to the physical plant ensuring changes are made within code requirements and is completed timely and within planned scope.
• Managing and maintaining life safety equipment in conjunction with Environmental Health and Safety.
• Test and diagnose instruments and equipment. Maintain the life safety plans and participate in the planning of the fire risk assessments and fire safety audits.
• Oversight of departmental budgets, CMS work order management system and appropriate distribution of resources for the continued maintenance and operations of campus facilities and infrastructure.
• Manage the PM schedules using the CMS work order system.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred).
• 10 years of higher education, hospital or research setting with increasing responsibilities.
• Minimum 7 years' experience in asupervisor/managerialrole.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a power plant or steam plant.
• Professional Engineer License (Preferred).
• FDNY CAT, Q01 Refrigeration Engineer (Preferred).
