Job summary

UC San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a Custodian to responsibly perform cleaning and sanitation duties across hospital areas. The role emphasizes infection control, proper waste handling, floor care, and general cleaning to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.

Under supervision, the incumbent will work with the operations team to ensure high standards of cleanliness, safe handling of cleaning agents, and adherence to hospital policies.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of satisfactory work experience in custodial/janitorial cleaning, preferably in healthcare settings.
• Willingness to work a schedule that may include weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Successful completion of basic custodial training desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• 15% COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL OF SOLID WASTE AND SOILED LINEN and related duties per Infection Control Policies.
• 30% Floor Care including sweeping, mopping, stripping and finishing floors, and operating floor machines.
• 50% General Cleaning of offices, patient areas, labs, kitchens, restrooms, and other spaces with attention to cleanliness and sanitation.
• 3% Supplies and Equipment management including restocking and safe handling of chemicals and cleaning agents.
• 2% Other Functions and Responsibilities including bed making, equipment cleaning, reporting hazards and responding to emergencies.
