Job summary

UCSF is seeking a Custodian to support cleaning operations under supervision in a hospital setting. You will handle waste disposal, floor care, general cleaning, and supplies management while following infection control policies.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexibility to work weekends/holidays as needed. Prior custodial experience and training are valued at UCSF.

Qualifications

• Ability to clean and maintain assigned areas to standards.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment and safety.
• Physical ability to perform tasks and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Basic custodial training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect and dispose solid waste and soiled linen following infection control policies.
• Perform floor care including sweeping, mopping, stripping and finishing floors.
• Execute general cleaning of offices, patient areas, restrooms, kitchens and common spaces.
• Manage supplies, chemicals, and cleaning equipment; ensure proper labeling and storage.
• Respond to emergencies and maintain safe, orderly work areas.
