Job summary

UPMC Family Hospice seeks a Chief Medical Officer to provide visionary clinical leadership across hospice services within the IDFS. This role leads the integration of hospice and palliative care in acute care hospitals, collaborates with hospital leadership, and ensures high-quality, patient-centered care across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.

The CMO directs medical programs, ensures CMS and payer compliance, and guides quality improvement while partnering with PSI and university

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required and active PA medical license (or ability to obtain).
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
• Demonstrated leadership in hospice/palliative care.
• Strong communication and collaboration within complex health systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the integration of hospice and palliative care within UPMC acute care hospitals and service lines.
• Provide medical direction for inpatient, hospital-based, SNF, and community hospice programs.
• Oversee compliance with CMS, federal, state, and payer requirements; ensure accurate documentation, billing and coding.
